July 5th Devotional

Hosea 2:19-20, Hebrew 2

I like Hebrews 2:1-3  We must pay more careful attention therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.  For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and diobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation?  This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed by those who heard him.

Once we here of the plan of salvation, we can’t just ignore it, we will be held accountable to it at the end.  That is why the world cannot end until all have had the opportunity to hear the word.  You can’t be held accountable for what you don’t hear and know about.  But once God has spoken to you through one of his servants about salvation, whether you accept it or not, you will be held accountable.   God will ask you why you did not accept this free gift he has given to you.  What will your answer be?  If you have a Bible, God will ask why you did not read it, or if you did read it, why you did not do what it told you to do.  What will your answer be?  If you have accepted his gift of salvation and Jesus lives in your heart, what are you doing for him?  It doesn’t just stop there.  He requires things from us, he tells us to go and make disciples.  He tells us to spread the word, to tell others about him and his plan for salvation.  Are you doing that?  Why not?  Do you think you don’t know enough about Jesus or the Bible?  If so, then learn about him, go to Bible study, read the Bible, talk to people who do understand it.  You will be held accountable for what you do in this life, and also what you don’t do.
