July 3rd Devotional

2 Chronicles 26; Isaiah 6:1-8; Philemon

The verses that stood out are 2 Chronicles 26:3 Uzziah was 16 years old when he became king, and reigned in Jerusalem 52 years. 26:5 He sought God during the days of Zechaiah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success. 26:16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. 26:21 King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died.

He thought he was above or could change the law because of how powerful he was (his pride) and God punished him. Goes back to the Scriptures I read on the 1st and 2nd. That you should avoid foolish controversies about the law and how idols and those that worship them cannot speak, feel walk or talk. King Uzziah became his own idol and it lead to his demise.

When we fear God and seek him we will have success, but pride and idolatry will be our downfall. We need to be humble and remember how we got there-by God’s grace and love.

Lord, I pray that we will take this lesson in our hearts and remember it.
